Any other teens with GW?

Postby seventeen » Sun Nov 30, 2008 8:21 am

I'm only seventeen, I was diagnosed with GW back in march when I was sixteen... Is there any teens here w/GW? I'd like to meet other teens for support & stuff, I have AIM(PeaceLuvNRainboz) if anyone wants to chat & support eachother, it gets lonely being the only one with GW (in what seems to be my entire state :( )

I know how you feel too. I am only 18 and I have GW but I am too afraid to go to the doctor and get a final diagnosis. I need to go shortly though. It is tough being so young and having to face this already.

Hi.

Contracted internal genital warts at 16 from oral sex, diagnosed at 17.

Having HPV sucks, as we all know.

But it's not the end of the world and there are definitely worse things that can happen to us.

I know it's hard, but everybody stay strong!

i'm 19, i was just diagnosed last week.
i cried for about 5 days, but you know what? 80 percent of women under 50 will contract it in their lifetime! that's a huge statistic. i keep trying to look at it like the chickenpox. it's better you got it now, because you're young and healthy and (unfortunately you'd probably have gotten it when you were older anyway) and now your body can fight off the virus and you will be symptom free in a few years! stay positive

If you're a woman and you've contracted it remember the Gardisil shot is a good idea ;)

I got the first Gardasil shot but now I'm thinking I won't get the rest. What's the point when it only covers 4 out of 100+ strains? And there have been girls on this site who have had the shot and gotten other strains.

I don't think it's worth the risk, really.

Because there's over 120 different strains of HPVand if you've contracted one already it's good to think a head for the future an vaccinated yourself against the deadly ones that will mostly likely cause cancer (which gardisil protects you against). Plus...whats the risk of just tryin to protect yourself?

Well the thing about cervical cancer is that if you get yearly checkups, you should be able to catch it. Which I plan on doing yearly check ups, for sure. And Gardasil only covers 2 strains that cause a vast majority of cervical cancers, there are a few others that do as well.

Also, have you not heard of some of the things associated with Gardasil? Death, paralysis, Bell's Palsy, seizure, brain damage, etc. I know it's a rare thing, but it seems like a high percentage to me. I got the first shot with no problems, but when I got home I started to do some research I hadn't been thorough enough in before. I probably just scared myself. Most of the problems seem to have occurred in girls under 20, and I am 21.

I dunno, I don't think this is a black and white issue. I have decided not to get the rest of the shots, and just be really diligent in going to the doctor.

My naturopath dissaproves of the Garadsil shot. I don't know anything about it because I am a guy. I guess I would leave it to future potential partners to decide if the vaccine is a good idea or not.

I'm 18 with hpv but I dnt feel like this will b a permanent problem. My mom had high risk..uncle had low risk and there both fine..I just would hate if I spreaded this to my boyrfriend..even though its basically inevitable..and he hates condoms so I'm 90 percent sure he's got it hope he doesn't get symptoms..he doesn't seem to care so I've stopped caring. People get warts all the time but we are looked down upon because we have it on our genitals..u know what I say to people who feel like that? Fxck off because u probably have it or have had it too..just didn't know or you may be finding out soon. So HA lol but its really not that bad u just have to love yourself and be healthy no wart is forever unless you have an immune defieciency and if that's the case a wart is probably your least worry..buh lifes not over its just beginning. Well all beat this disease

-peace love n hope

Hiya. I contracted gw when I was 17, am now 19. It went away with treatment after a few weeks then none for two years. A couple have just showed up. Apparently this means my immune system is coping well, so hopefully they will be gone soon.

There must be others out there as everyone keeps saying it's so common, but it's such a taboo subject though, and I feel very lonely- have never told anyone.

I'm at university and there is so much casual sex, but I haven't got with anyone since (two and a half years now, and it's pretty lonely) I would love to have that option.

Your post is from a while ago though would love to hear from some other young people, and how you're getting on.

I've only had 2 partners but had a wart upon my hand which appears as if it's spread to my lower region =/. I'm so incredibly petrified! oh going to my local sti clinic =>.<, I've been with my gf for a year now but she's just only 17 and I'm 90% sure she might have it too =/ and I am so scared that she will leave me and that her parents will go crazy on me =/ and i'm so scared of telling my parents =/!. Also i suffer from depression so I know i'm not going to be ok after it all =/

Any one ot a success story? =/
