It's been more than a year since my serious case was cured.
I thought I'd share my story here for others going through similar pain.
I had anal warts for nearly two years. The last six months were the worst. The warts got massive and really painful.
Over those two years I tried all kinds of treatments and none worked: acid, Aldara, another ointment (I forgot the name, but it burned like hell), liquid nitrogen, an herbal oil extract, and homeopathy.
What finally cured me was full-blown surgery. I went under anaesthesia and the doctor cut the warts out with a scalpel.
I know that sounds pretty extreme, and I was really nervous going into it. I was warned that the post-op pain could be really bad. So bad that they would prescribe me oxycontin for the pain.
But a wonderful thing happened. The day after the surgery I felt great. There was definitely pain in the month or so after the surgery, but it was much less than the pain I felt with the warts. I think my body was just so happy to have them gone. I had to soak my bottom every day for the next several weeks, and had to take a month off work. The worst pain was when I had to go to the bathroom. Luckily, my body adjusted and kept my bowel movements to a minimum. A mere month after the surgery I was feeling back to normal.
I'm very happy to report that ever since the surgery, I have had no reappearance of warts of any kind!
I had been warned that they often reappear, but I guess I've been lucky.
Now that more than a year has gone by, I think it's safe to assume that I'm out of the woods.
Surgery is obviously an extreme major and may sound scary, but for me it was the right option.
For anyone who's experienced as bad a case of warts as me, and who's tried all the other treatments to no avail, I'd definitely recommend the surgery.
