Look through the Blue Cross doctor's list, see link below, call around for your neighborhood and find the best rate, all of these doctors will accept uninsured/cash patients:
http://pd.web.bluecrossca.com/prov-bcc/medical/providers/default-ipf.htm
1. Click visitor search
2. Click Individual plans
3. Click BlueCross PPO
4. Click Physicians
5. Click Colon and Rectal surgery
6. Search by location
You will then get a list of dozens of proctologists near your residence. |

Could we come up with treatment faq's I feel like I have a million questions about Aldara and other people ask about treatments all the time! Might be useful
Cheers to you!

yea I asked Moldy to make this a "sticky" thread, but he never responded
Ok I just added the CDC stats to the end. I'm still amazed that about 80% of Americans will get HPV and don't ever even know it because they don't get genital warts *. |

The FAQ and the entire conversation/thread is great! I'm starting to wonder if my doctor knows what she's talking about at all. She kept convo short and said we'd talk more at the end of the week when she has time to think more about it and research newest treatment options, etc.
But she didn't make it seem like it could ever go away, and the CDC FAQ seems to contradict her comments a bit--she said gw can never be considered cured. I'm going to send her the FAQ and try to get responses from her. I'll post whatever I found out. I just wonder if I'm going to the right sort of doctor...I'll start a new thread for that convo. |

Hey there. Believe it or not, MOST doctors are completely clueless about genital warts * and HPV! I've heard the most ridiculous statements from nurses and doctors, I just politely correct them then keep my mouth shut if they argue as I don't want a big bill )))) My anal/rectal surgeon told me to get rid of my anal warts because they quote "cause cancer". It's a nice way to bill Blue Cross a big hefty co-pay for an uneeded colonoscopy. I got an anal pap instead and of COURSE it came back negative.
Don't print out that FAQ, print out the CDC FAQ, here's the link:
http://www.cdc.gov/nchstp/od/news/RevBrochure1pdfhpv.htm
-At any one time, an estimated 20 million people in the United States have genital HPV infections that can be transmitted to others.
-genital warts * are extremely common, but can be treated and cured.
-Most HPV infections appear to be temporary and are probably cleared up by the body's immune system.
-In 91 percent of women with new HPV infections, HPV became undetectable within two years.
http://www.cdc.gov/std/HPV/STDFact-HPV.htm
-By age 50, at least 80 percent of women will have acquired genital HPV infection.
-About 6.2 million Americans get a new genital HPV infection each year.
-Most people who become infected with HPV will not have any symptoms and will clear the infection on their own.
http://www.hpvforum.com/cdc.asp (report to Congress):
"Most HPV infections are transient and asymptomatic, causing no clinical problems. Studies have shown that 70% of new HPV infections clear within one year, and as many as 91% clear within two years. The median duration of new infections is typically eight months. HPV-16 is more likely to persist than other HPV types; however, most HPV-16 infections become undetectable within two years. Factors associated with persistence include older age, high-risk HPV types, infection with multiple HPV types, and immune suppression. The gradual development of an effective immune response is thought to be the likely mechanism for HPV DNA clearance." |

http://www.medhelp.org/perl6/STD/wwwboard.html

I had to catch it from someone who didnt have visible warts... I'm quite the little inspector with my partners
but i also believe that I ran into another strain...a bad one... the first time i saw visible signs was in 2001 it was a flat white blotch on the inside of my vag opening.. we tested it and it cme back hpv positive... I kinda left it after my i nitial sad depressed feelings subsided i kinda forgot about it...because it wasnt really visible to others... then one day i looked and noticed it was gone! but that was about a year later..so im not sure when it went away...
Then... this past feb or so a bump showed up...flesh colored.. i thought nothing of it... thought it was a hair bump... then after a few weeks got white on the top.. again, i thought it was a pimple... even squeezed it by the time i figured what it was...another one had popped up... went to the docs and low and behold... a couple of warts... different from the first ones i had 4 years ago... I guess i can conclude that i was re-infected with a diff (nastier and more agressive) strand of it...
*sigh*... this sucks... |
