I realize "it says" the strains of HPV you have already .. that Gardasil probably won't clear you but I want to hear about it. How many shots have you had already? Do you have high/low risk or both? Has it given you any bad side effects? Have you had any clearance yet? If so, do you think the vaccine had anything to do with it? Also, has any males got it? I know it's for women but i'm just curious to know!! Updates please!! |

I have 6, 11, and 52
I got my first shot today...at least I won't ever get 16 or 18.
My Gyn and Family Doctor (who does research in the STD field) assured me, along with eveything I read that it was ok to still get it even though I have 6 and 11. Man I wish this shot was out a year ago before I have 6 and 11. |

Oh goodie!! I'm happy you got this shot and thanks for writing me back!! I am wondering what exact test they used to find out your exact strains. If you aren't sure could you please find out for me. So far, HPV DNA test doesn't tell you the exact strains and another wonderful person on here mentioned they know their strain from the PreTect HPV-Proofer test. I looked it up and it says it isn't available for the US. I live in Florida also and this would be a huge help to me.. thanks!!! |

| I am a 31-year-old male and I was vaccinated last Thursday. I have had GW for about 4 months now and I decided to get the vaccine. I also wish the vaccine had been available a few months ago. I only caught my GWs last summer. Now I hope the vaccine helps me fight with the warts as Aldara or freezing haven't been very good for me. |

I was reading the site of a gynaecologist in my country, and he says that Gardasil will be sold in my country in January, 2007, he says also that the vaccine will be applied to persons who already are infected to avoid new serotypes and to generate a better inmune answer to avoid new reinfections for the same serotype that already is possessed, the vaccine was classified class B by the FDA what means that it is sure during the pregnancy but its elective use is not recommended
So I think the vaccine could help in the healing process blocking spreading, what do you think? _________________ Be Positive! |

| They denied me b/c I had warts(low risk) and had a positive HPV DNA test. They can't tell me my exact strains.. yet they are "assuming" I have all 4 strains that the vaccine would prevent and that it would be a waste of money for me to get. |

| I have a Dr. apt on 1/15 for the bioposy. My pap came back abnormal so when I go I'll ask my doctor what the test was called that she did. To do the test she took a swap from my cervix, she didn't take any blood. I'm in Fl too. I'll let you know. |

Guy83 I live in Europe. I don't know your medical system in America, but in my country I found a doctor who agreed to vaccinate me even though I am a man. I had to pay for the vaccine though. I was vaccinated about two weeks ago and so far have noticed no chanage in the size of my my warts. But I have read that the vaccine might help after the 2nd or 3rd dose. I am quite scpeptical, but wanted to give myself a chance to try. I will keep you updated:) |

I am glad to read this, and thank you to all of you who have shared your stories- especially that doctors think it may be helpful even after infected and symptomatic! My doctor felt that it might still be helpful in prevention because my first (known) exposure was within the last two weeks- it is comforting to hear that other doctors share in the opinion that the vaccine can still help.
I got my first shot yesterday, and I haven't had any side effects that I've really noticed except that I am tired today and I had some soreness in the muscle in my arm at the injection site- also a little bump. |
