Sorry for so many posts, but I have been feeling a lot of things the last few days... not the least of which is this:
WHAT IS WITH INSURANCE COMPANIES?! (Not all)
When my doctor told me about the vaccine, she also informed me that it isn't covered by my insurance. When I spoke to my sister about it, she told me that when she looked into it for her daughters, she found out that the insurance doesn't cover it for them until they're 18.
WTF?! That is just ASININE to me! Why not pay for a girl to be vaccinated before she ever has her first sexual contact?! Why not increase her chances of not getting a virus that might give her cervical cancer?! And even in my case... I mean, I know that I'm long past my first sexual contact- but WHY THE HELL won't they pay for something that might prevent women from getting a virus that can kill them?!
Pretty disgusting.
OK, thanks, rant over! |

Insurance companies make their decisions on probabilities. Like any business, they're out their to make money. They honestly aren't out there to save lives. So some actuary somewhere must have made the calculation that it's cheaper to pay for treatment/whatever than it is to pay to vaccinate young girls based on probabilities, etc.
Infuriating? Yes. Is it a sad reality of life? Unfortunately yes. |
